Sometimes things just don’t go your way, and this morning was certainly going to be one of those times. For starters, before we even set out, we had already discovered that the cheese factory we had planned on visiting was closed due to COVID, and the gin distillery we had on the cards was closed for the winter. Still, refusing to be beaten down, we typed our next location into the GPS, wagered that surely nature wasn’t going to be closed and set off towards Mumbulla Creek Falls. By the time we took the last turn to our destination, we found ourselves faced with an impassably muddy track I was in no way comfortable attempting to drive down as my gut told me we were destined to get bogged if we did. Reverting back to the wisdom of Google, we discovered an alternative route, which meant doubling back twenty minutes and approaching from the other side. It was only later that we realised we should have been on this route all along and our GPS had decided the questionable service road option was clearly more appropriate. Ahh, the fallibility of technology. As we neared the turn-off marked sensibly with tourism signs, though, we saw a word that planted another kick in our guts, ‘Closed’. It must be noted here that some delving found that the road was currently closed for road repairs due to bushfire damage, much like our ill-fated attempt to visit…
