Whereas the previous day had been spent to the south of Jervis Bay, today was to be spent to the north on the Beecroft Peninsula. Woken early again by construction workers, we were less that bushy-tailed by the time we headed out, but the sun was shining and there were adventures to be had. We may not have been enthusiastic, but we were willing, and that had to count for something.

The drive went smoothly, but we were to be faced with a major hurdle at the outset. You see, as we pulled into the entry of the national park area of the peninsula, it was to discover that it wasn’t open to visitors. Unbeknownst to us, the area actually belongs to the military, and so is only open to the public at very specific and rather sporadic times. In fact, I think the main job of the poor lady at the office is to turn away visitors. Yet again, I was destined to be denied the viewing of a historic lighthouse. Sigh.

We couldn’t mull on it for too long, though. The morning was still young, and we needed to fill our day with whatever adventure we could find. As such, we decided to move on to the next area we had on our list, Abrahams Bosom Reserve in Currarong at the north of the peninsula. Parking near the beach, we headed out onto the sand of Abrahams Bosom Beach, looking across at the sweeping shelf of rock Google maps had marked as Currarong Rock Pools. Of course, we are always up for a good bit of clambering, and so we went rock hopping for a short while, basking in the lapping of the waves as we pondered why the solitary man on the beach just kept pacing the length of it for no apparent reason.
