It seemed almost comical to wake up in the tent for the first time in three days and think to myself, ‘I’m much warmer in here than in a cabin’, but that was the truth. Sure, it was because I was hugging a hot water bottle, wearing thermals, and tucked inside a sleeping bag rated for -8 degrees. Still, I was snug and comfortable. Not only this, but as our first adventure for the day didn’t require us to be present until 11am, we were able to indulge in a lazy lie in, for which I was immensely thankful. Now, that’s not to say I had a hard time rousting myself out of bed when the time came. After all, we had exciting plans lined up, and I was eager to get to them.
With lunch packed, we headed off down the road, soon finding ourselves as the first guests of the day purchasing tickets to one of Kangaroo Island’s major attractions: Raptor Domain. Of course, the name makes it feel like we were about to go on some sort of dinosaur safari, but in truth, we were there to see their Birds of Prey show. Any of you who have been following along since our trip to Europe will know well enough that this is an offering I would be unlikely to ever miss.
