Dawn broke and we rose early. Don’t worry the world wasn’t ending, we just happened to have somewhere to be and, as such, we were forced to roust ourselves out of bed in a more timely manner. That’s not to say there wasn’t a fair amount of groaning involved, especially given that our sleep had been less than stellar thanks to the slant of a hill we had been forced to pitch our tent on. You know its good when you get up and the mattress has slid a good six inches down the hill overnight. Needless to say, we decided to rotate it ninety degrees for the next night and see if it made a marked improvement. Call me old fashioned, but I think tent spaces being flat is far more important than making sure the caravan spots are. You know, because you can level a caravan.
Anyway, moving right along. Our main adventure for the day was taking place a good 100kms away, and so we packed ourselves some lunch and bundled into the car, pulling into the carpark of Naracoorte Caves an hour or so later. There are several caves on offer in the area here, but with the prices for tours being a little steep, we’d decided to pick the one that drew our interest the most: Victoria Fossil Cave.
