We awoke to the sound of pattering rain and sighed. Why, when we had an outdoor activity we had been looking forward to for months, did the weather have to choose this day to be drizzly with a chill breeze? Alas, it was too late to change our plans, and so we simply got on with it. So, what had enchanted us with such enthusiasm? Well, we were going to be spending our morning in the company of sting rays and sharks, and by company, I mean we were going to get to hop in the water and touch them.
Slipping on our bathers under our clothes, we made the short drive to Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters in Anna Bay, checking in and donning our wetsuits and complimentary sock as quickly as we could. A few minutes later and we were shuffling into the first lagoon, the rain continuing to patter down on us at an annoying pace. Still, we were far too excited to care.
