Due to the fact that we both hate our legs and their general opinions on what we should do, we awoke to another sunny morning with the express purpose of spending another full day of hiking. That’s right, there is nothing better to follow a questionable sleep in a frosty tent then committing yourself to a full day of physical exertion. As reluctant as my brain was to shimmy out of my sleeping bag, I managed it, and with lunch packed, we were soon on our way north of Merimbula to the town of Tathra.
Starting off with something a little lower impact, we made the journey out to Chamberlain Lookout, a rocky bluff which offers a refreshing spot to drink in this slice of the aptly named Sapphire Coast. Of course, just looking from the edge of the carpark wasn’t enough, and we were soon clambering off across the rocks to get a closer look, sensibly deciding not to stray further than the mildly forboding and slightly askew life ring jutting out from the rocks, the waves crashing thunderously below us, their turbulent caps transforming sapphire seas to milky white foam.
