It was safe to say that I felt lousy when I woke up, my lungs laden with the kind of thick mucus only a chest infection can provide, but with Covid rampant around the world, I did my best to keep my coughing to a minimum. The morning had gifted us enough warm sunlight to ensure the tent was dry when we packed it up, and, as per usual, the task took far less time when we weren’t having to deal with wet canvas.

With our belongings once again bundled into the car, we headed off to the day’s main attraction, the Australian Reptile Park in Somersby. Originally, we were a little tentative about going due to the high ticket price, but with a 10% discount voucher from the caravan park, and the website promising more than just a small collection of cold-blooded creatures, we decided to give it a go. As we pulled up into the car park we realised we weren’t the only ones, and we were once again reminded that it was the weekend, families with young kids abounding around us.

Map in hand, we set off on the track, to our right, peering in a few enclosures on the way. I smiled as I spotted…
