With the stress of the book launch behind us, we were free to continue our adventure once more, packing the car and setting off on a sunny Saturday morning to begin the seven hour drive that would deliver us to a starting point on the east coast of New South Wales. Given the length of the drive, it should not surprise you to learn that there isn’t overly much to tell you about day three hundred and seventy six of our journey. The hours passed us by to the sounds of the stereo, my partner driving, and me replying to a million Facebook comments I had managed to get on the book baby photos I’d posted on a few of the author pages I follow on behalf of our page. The only stops were for petrol, bathroom breaks, and to eat the lunch we had sensibly packed.
When we finally reached the caravan park in Narooma, the winter sun had already set, and for the first time on the trip we were tasked with setting up the tent in the dark. Luckily, repetition meant it all went along fairly smoothly, and we had it up in decent time. Good planning meant that we had also packed the ingredients to fix ourselves dinner and so we headed to the camp kitchen so I could cobble together a mushroom risotto while my partner watched the football.
