An uncharacteristically sunny morning saw us awake earlier than usual, much to my distaste. There was nothing else for it, though. Besides we had to get up and pack down the tent. Luckily, we’d be pitching camp at our next temporary home for three nights, so there was that at least.
With the car packed in slightly less disarray than the first few attempts, largely due to the luxury of time afforded to us by the lack of rain, we drove towards the morning’s first stop: Marker Beacon Lookout. Although unsigned and a little difficult to locate, Google maps gave us a helping hand, and after wandering through a caravan park we weren’t even staying at, we found the path. The walk was flat, which made for a pleasant change, and it wasn’t long before we’d made it. That being said, we did overshoot it at first due to, ironically enough, the fact it had neither an obvious marker or a beacon. In hindsight, though, there was a decaying wooden pole painted red, which actually bears two plaques on the sea facing side, one in memory of a woman whose ashes are sprinkled there, and one for her dog who passed shortly after she did.
