I don’t know which one of the weather gods we upset, but it’s definitely the one in charge of wind. Seriously, I used to find the sound of wind whistling across the fields endearing, but fuck me, if I have to hear our tent shudder in the face of gale force gusts one more time, I’m surely going to commit bloody murder. Have you ever been lulled to sleep then woken by the sounds of the entire room moving around you like you’re in a sequel to Paranormal Activity, because I sure as hell have? 0/10 do not recommend. You know you’re life is going right when you’re Googling how strong of a wind can a tent endure. Regardless of the answer, we were trialing things out first hand.
Anyway, we awoke bright and sparkly to another day of adventure. By bright and sparkly, I of course mean we groaned our way out from the warmth of our sleeping bags at some time close to 10am because, well because that’s where the night had led us. Totally uninspired to do anything, we forced ourselves into the car and trundled off, because for some unknown reason we’d thought it sensible to set ourselves up with a 13km hike. Blame optimistic past me for that nonsense.
After purchasing some egregiously priced petrol, we eventually arrived at the carpark of our first, and apparently only site for the day…
