We awoke in our emergency cabin on a day that was supposed to be nothing more than a low-key travel day with the afternoon free for our leisure. Of course, if you’ve read the last blog, you’ll know that those plans had already been derailed. For those of you who haven’t read it, we were gifted gale force winds the night before, resulting in three of our tent poles being damaged. This was after the previous night’s strong winds had torn a section of our tent and resulted in three holes being pierced in our fly. The only silver lining was that we did not have to pack up the tent that morning because we’d already done that in the middle of a storm at 11pm the night previous.

As we gathered our things, we received a phone call letting us know that the 100 copies of our paperback that we’d ordered for our book launch were being delivered to my best friend’s house that day. That was one less thing to worry about, at the very least. Sending her a message, I asked her to unbox one to check if the final sentence had the full stop we had sent a million emails to get fixed, and she let me know she’d check on her break from work.

Checking out, we settled the bill for the cabin, the extra $66 expense adding insult to injury after such a stressful event. This was only worsened by the fact it seemed…
