I swear, windy is fast becoming my least favourite type of weather. I always thought rain would be our greatest enemy on this trip, but I was wrong. Oh, so very wrong. Another restless night inside of what is increasingly feeling more like a hurricane shelter than a tent, saw us wake irritable to put it lightly. Still, we are ever the persistent pair, and so after a slow start, we headed out. Albeit we did so with a fair amount of swearing both at the wind and the rain which seemed to come and go with such varying speed and ferocity that we barely knew what to think.
Starting with something simple, we drove to our first location, zipping up our waterproof jackets to dispel the drizzle and walking the 100 metres to the small viewing platform for Hindmarsh Falls. Now, the almost endless rain overnight seemed to have stirred up the rivers a little, and the usually clear falls were tinged a lacklustre shade of brown. That being said, the excess water had at least delivered a surging stream. So there was that to be grateful for, at least. It certainly wasn’t the best waterfall we’d seen of late, but it was a pleasant enough way to start the day’s adventure.
