There are just some days when you have so much on the cards that you have to sacrifice sleep in the name of adventure. Today was one of those days. As such, we were awake my eight, and crawling out of bed, albeit sluggishly. This was followed by the far too energetic tasks of packing away the tent that had been up drying from Mission Mould Removal the previous night, along with the removal of the frost covered pod from the roof of our car in case there was only underground parking available where we were headed.
With the night having fallen a good few degrees below freezing, we were also tasked with washing the layer of ice off the windshield before we could head off, and it was past nine by the time we were finally on our way. So, what was on the agenda this early in the morning? A place my partner hadn’t been since he was a kid when his father was a minister in the sitting Labour Party government: Old Parliament House. Of course, it was the actual Parliament House back then, but now it holds the Museum of Australian Democracy.
Like many of the attractions in Canberra, entry was free, although parking was not, and we were soon headed on in to explore. Letting my partner take the lead, we wandered upstairs to explore, first making our way to the Prime Minister’s suites. Now, the…
