Morning came, and with it the greatest fear of all people facing the task of packing up their tent — doubly those of whom are placing a tent into a sealed bag for a week and a half — crisp air and light drizzle. After the mammoth effort to remove the mould from the canvas the first time, there was no part of me that wished to have to do the same again.
We faced a difficult choice: we could either pack up the tent as it was in its damp state or take the park’s staff up on their offer of keeping it up until the conclusion of our mornings activities and hope that the rain cleared and held off long enough for the tent to dry out in the interim. With no way of checking the current weather prediction due to the lack of internet, and with the previous day’s prediction forecasting rain all the way through the day until 3pm, it was quite the conundrum. In the end, we decided to risk it and leave it standing for a while longer. After all, what did we have to lose? The outside was already covered in raindrops and the inside was still retaining its sheet of night time condensation. It was currently wet, so the worst it could be later would be … still wet.
With the decision made, we packed up everything inside and put as much as we could into the car, before propping open the windows to let some airflow in and setting…
