The day had come for me, a staunch Melbournian, to march into the enemy territory that is Sydney. Now, if you’re not from Australia you probably have no idea what I’m on about, but just know that there is a pretty solid rivalry between the two cities as to which one is better. So fierce and long-lived is this rivalry, that it is the reason our nation’s capital is located in the middle of nowhere between the two. You know, because if you can’t come to an agreement, you come to a compromise.
Now, what better way to wake up than to the sounds of a toddler scurrying around at some ungodly hour. Still, we were lucky enough to have a free place to stay, so who were we to complain. Although we were awake early, it took us a fair while to roust ourselves, and a while longer to organise ourselves into something resembling functioning adults. That being said, we still managed to make it out the door by 9:30. Right on schedule.
So, what was calling us to the state’s capital so early. Well, for starters, we had to get a train in, which was to cost us a good hour of time.
